Our mission: Transport transition through retrofit

The climate crisis demands concrete solutions. At Second Ride we convert combustion vehicles to electric drive — instead of scrapping them. The result: most of the vehicle stays in use, and CO₂ emissions drop by over 50 % compared with producing a brand-new EV.

The Team

Made in Berlin

Behind Second Ride is a 15-person team based in Berlin. We develop hardware, software and electronics in-house and hold patents on breakthrough battery technologies. Final assembly and quality control happen right here. Over the past three years more than 800 retrofit kits have left our workshop and turned old two-strokes into modern electric mopeds.

Why SIMSON?

A SIMSON was the first vehicle both founders ever owned. These GDR-era mopeds still hold their appeal today — through their looks, through the 60 km/h moped license, and through their sheer ubiquity: it's Germany's most-produced two-wheeler, with an active population in the mid six figures.
